30 weeks, almost ready!

This week I’m about 15.7 inches long, and I weigh almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds me, but that volume will decrease as I get bigger and take up more room in Mommy’s uterus. My eyesight continues to develop, though it’s not very keen; even after I’m born, I will keep my eyes closed for a good part of the day. When I do open them, I’ll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means I can only make out objects a few inches from my face.

Grandpa could totally make this for me, but I added it to my wishlist anyways! If you don’t buy it for me my daddy will.  :P

29 weeks today

I now weigh about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and am a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. My muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and my head is growing bigger to make room for my developing brain. Because my bones are soaking up lots of calcium, mommy needs to drink lots of milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in my body’s hardening skeleton each day.

This is the furniture that mommy and daddy picked out for my room – it’s absolutely beautiful! I hope it’s as comfy as it looks! Thank you ♥

This week, I weigh two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measure 14.8 inches from the top of my head to my heels. I can blink my eyes, which now sport lashes. With my eyesight developing, I may be able to see the light that filters in through my mommy’s womb. I am also developing billions of neurons in my brain and adding more body fat in preparation for my life in the outside world!
